Gymnoascus sp.
Gymnoascus sp. showing the formation of alternate single celled arthroconidia (ameroconidia) by the enteroarthric fragmentation of undifferentiated hyphae. These arthroconidia are hyaline, rectangular to barrel-shaped and separated from each other by a disjunctor cell. Note this common soil fungus closely resembles Coccidioides immitis.
