Dixon's Agar for Malassezia furfur

For primary isolation and cultivation of Malassezia furfur.

Malt extract (Oxoid L39) 18 g
Peptone (BDH 44075) 18 g
Bacto agar (BD) 7.25 g
Ox-bile Desiccated (Oxoid L50) 10 g
Tween 40 5 ml
Glycerol Mono-oleate

2.5 ml

Distilled water 500 ml

1. Soak ingredients for 15 minutes in some water.

2. Bring remaining water to boil, add to other ingredients. Bring to boil once more.

3. Dispense for slopes.

4. Autoclave at 121C for 10 minutes and then slope.
