My name is David Ellis and I am Head of the Mycology Unit at SA Pathology, Women's and Children's Hospital and an Affiliate Associate Professor in the School of Molecular and BioMedical Sciences, University of Adelaide, Australia. The Front PageThis provides direct links to current topics like the Kaminski's Digital Image Library, Upcoming Mycology Seminars & Conferences and the Fungus Photo of the Month. An additional educational initiative a Virtual Self Assessment for Mould Identification. Photo GalleryThis is a photo database for medical mycology that is currently under development. If you wish to submit photos of fungi for inclusion in this database please send the photo, caption and required acknowledgement to dellis@adelaide.edu.au The Fungal Jungle.This section contains information on topical issues, mycology courses and lecture notes, conferences, links to societies and to other mycology WWW sites. It also features information on Antifungal guidelines, the Australasian Mycology QAP and a glossary of mycological terms. A new inclusion is Kaminski's Digital Image Library which contains 500 images covering all aspects of medical mycology. Human Fungal Infections.This sections provides details of most mycoses which may be accessed either by a clinical classification or by alphabetic listing. Mycoses descriptions contain information on the clinical manifestations, laboratory diagnosis, causative agents and management. Fungal Descriptions.This section contains taxonomic descriptions of over 115 species of fungi likely to be isolated in the medical mycology laboratory. Descriptions may be accessed by a taxonomic classification; or by an alphabetic listing. New descriptions will continue to be added to this database. Laboratory Methods.This section includes information on methods for antifungal susceptibility testing, specimen collection, microscopy techniques, and recipes for stains and culture media. These may be accessed by method category.
